Rosehip and Hibiscus Tea, Spiced & Iced
This tea is a flashback from my childhood, spiced and iced (good warm too) and a perfect drink for holiday gatherings! We’re also bundling this tea up with honey to give as gifts this year. A couple of other homemade gifts we’re making are this Elderberry-Tart Cherry Syrup, and soaked and dehydrated Pecans. They are all quite simple to put together!
Today I’m sharing the Rosehip & Hibiscus Tea & Honey Bundle at The Nourishing Gourmet. Head over there to find out where to purchase rosehips and hibiscus (for a great price!) as well as measurements for a basic cup of tea.
It’s part of the 12 Days of Christmas Series where you can get many wonderful ideas of treats to give this year, as well as some cozy reads! And you will not want to miss the incredible giveaways Kimi has to offer, including a Vitamix!
It was while thinking, sipping and writing my tea & honey gift post, that this idea came to me – this tea would be terrific spiced! Since it was one of those unseasonably warm Georgia fall days, I decided to serve it over ice, but it is also great warm. (We are having unseasonably cold days now – nothing ever seems seasonal around here!)
Dressed up with a fancy straw and a tiny umbrella (in honor of hibiscus), it made my little girl feel like a hawaiian princess.
Spiced & Iced Rosehip & Hibiscus Tea
8 cups water
3T dried rosehips
3T dried hibiscus
1 cinnamon stick
3 cloves
2 dashes nutmeg
honey, to taste
Gently simmer (covered) all ingredients, except for honey, in a pot for 45 min – 1 hr. Strain. Bring to room temperature, stir in honey and serve over ice. I recommend bringing it to room temp first to preserve the nutrients in case your honey is raw. If you are using pasteurized honey, you can stir it in right away.
Or if serving warm, stir in honey immediately and enjoy!
